Vision
Infrastructure is the backbone in the work of COINCO North, as the main bearer of the region's development. There will also be a focus on positioning the region as an attractive place to live, visit, invest in and establish new business, through closer partnerships within the areas of business and innovation and culture and experience.
The aim is to secure sustainable growth and development through reducing time and cost of travel between Oslo, Göteborg and Øresund/Copenhagen. Developing efficient train solutions is essential in order to increase mobility within and connect the region. The vision is to get high-speed trains that will serve the distance between Oslo and Copenhagen in 2 hours 20 minutes by 2025.
To realise this vision an upgrade to the existing Inter City networks in the region is required as soon as possible, in order to create efficient transfers between the systems and make sure all the users in the corridor is given a much better offer.
A collective, transnational vision will lead to closer working relationships within the areas of infrastructure for transport, innovation and business, and culture and experience, creating one of the most competitive regions in the global market by 2025.

The COINCO North focus area
COINCO North is about thinking networks and coalitions rather than isolated parts of projects, like it has been normally done in the past. This is all in line with the European Union's new TEN-T strategy, in which the idea has been to establish a model for planning that secures fast construction and linking of national infrastructure systems into a connected European network. COINCO North wants to be a pioneering project in that, by establishing a collective vision for the whole region. By involving regional and local decision makers, as well as partners in all related areas, as part owners of the project, the aim is to have agreements from the beginning. This will result in faster progress and a common understanding that the whole network as a one is more important than the single parts of the project.
Efficient infrastructure leads to increased mobility and lower costs of transactions for businesses and inhabitants in the COINCO North corridor. Friction free transfers between different means of transport is the way to successfully create business and innovation for the future. The development of efficient coalitions is vital for a network to work well, including making transfers between the different types of infrastructure systems possible, so called intermodal transport. COINCO North is about creating efficient transport coalitions that delivers on all levels locally, regionally and globally.
Expected results:
- New knowledge that will lead to cutting travel time and a quicker change to more efficient transport systems.
- A permanent structure for working partnerships in the regions along the western leg of The Nordic Triangle.
- New networks for partnerships between companies, the health sector and academia within life science.
- Trebling the number of students in entrepreneurship education.
- Improve development planning on a regional level due to increased knowledge about connections between innovation and efficient transport systems.
- A strengthened cultural profile in the marketing of the regions, in tourism, as a potential business location and for the inhabitants themselves.
